Japanese Tutor / Coach
Provide personalized one-on-one Japanese lessons tailored to each learner’s goals, pace and interests. Great for instructors who enjoy flexible scheduling, building relationships with students and customizing teaching styles.

Workshop Leader
Teach 2–5 hour themed workshops (Intro to Learning Japanese, Travel Japanese, JLPT prep, Kanji Basics). Perfect for specialists who want to teach shorter, high-impact sessions.

Instructional Designer / Content Creator
Develop lesson materials, worksheets, exercises, quizzes, or short-form educational videos for our courses and study resources. Ideal for teachers with strong writing/design skills or an interest in building digital learning products.
Roles
We’re looking for instructors, tutors, and coaches to join the Ichigo Academy team. If you are native or near-native in Japanese (or bilingual Japanese/English), have a passion for teaching language and culture, and enjoy working with students online or in person, we’d love to hear from you.
Available Roles Include:
Group Course Instructor (10-week live group classes)
1:1 Tutor/ Coach (private online or in-person lessons)
Workshop Leader (3-5-hour intensive cultural, language, or JLPT preparation sessions)
Instructional Designer/ Content Creator (create learning materials, worksheets, exercises, asynchronous modules)
Typical Hours
Most classes are scheduled during weekday evenings or weekend mornings/afternoons to accommodate students who work or study. Many instructors are part-time or contract-based.
What You’ll Bring
Near-native or native-level fluency in Japanese
Excellent communication skills in English and/or Japanese
Strong interest in Japanese language, culture and helping students succeed
Reliable internet and a quiet teaching environment (for online roles)
Ability to work with small groups and adapt teaching to student level
Preferred (but not required):
Prior teaching or tutoring experience
Familiarity with JLPT levels or language curriculum
Experience creating teaching materials or digital content
Availability during NY evening hours or weekends
